tinyBuild tests unlimited paid holidays until the end of the year | Pocket Gamer.biz

Indie game publisher tinyBuild has announced the introduction of a new vacation system for its two in-house studios and publishing team, who will get unlimited paid time off until the end of 2022, like the reported Game Developer.

Publisher Hello Neighbor said two weeks off per year is a mandatory minimum – taking place around Christmas and the Steam Summer Sale.

Beyond these weeks, additional paid time off taken by an employee is at their discretion.

Alex Nichiporchik, the company’s CEO, said the results will be shared after the experiment. He tweeted“People shouldn’t worry about how many paid vacation days they have left in the year.”

Work environments have changed significantly since the pandemic hit, and changes continue to happen even now. This year, Bandai Namco piloted a four-day work week to focus on employee well-being, and Hutch will begin its trial period shortly.

Commenting on tinyBuild’s unlimited employee vacation time, Nichiporchik told the game developer, “I think companies shouldn’t limit the number of days you can take on vacation. If work is done and your bosses he team and your colleagues are happy, why should you worry about how many days off you have left? It creates a power struggle that is not necessary.

“So this year we are running an experiment to see how we can implement unlimited days off into normal business operations. This will allow people in all locations to take national leaves, as well as extend our Normal weeks off in winter and summer vacation I believe in simplifying the process so we’ll see how it goes.

Earlier this year, before Russia invaded Ukraine, Nichiporchik shared his personal and emotional thoughts on tinyBuild’s personnel support plans.
