Tom Parker: Wanted singer dies aged 33

Tom Parker of The Wanted had just £5 in his pocket and no plan B before auditioning for the boy band.

The 33-year-old singer tragically passed away on Wednesday following a battle with a brain tumor.

Tom was diagnosed in 2020 and battled his disease relentlessly for nearly two years with his wife Kelsey by his side and their two beautiful children, daughter, Aurelia, two, and son Bodhi, 11 months old.

On Wednesday, Kelsey confirmed the heartbreaking news of Tom’s passing in a touching Instagram post.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we confirm that Tom passed away peacefully earlier today with his entire family by his side. Our hearts are broken,” Tom’s devastated wife wrote.

“Tom was the center of our world and we cannot imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence. We are truly grateful for the outpouring of love and support and ask that we all come together to let the light Tom continues to shine for his beautiful children.

“Thank you to everyone who supported his care throughout, he fought until the very end. I’m always proud of you.”

The singer was diagnosed with the inoperable brain tumor glioblastoma while his wife Kelsey was pregnant with their second child.

Following the news of Tom’s sad passing, tributes from stars from all walks of life for the woman poured in – and one tribute in particular caught the attention of fans.

Jayne Collins, who formed The Wanted in 2010, said she knew from the first moment she met Tom that he was incredibly special.

Taking to Twitter, she wrote a few moving words about the late singer and revealed he was going all out when he auditioned for the band that would go on to become one of the most successful to ever emerge from the Kingdom. -United.

“The Wanted’s final encore with his last £5 in his pocket and no plan B. He’s become an amazing artist, like all his bandmates,” Jayne wrote.

“Jokes about #WantedWednesday the videos being “The Tom Parker Show” always made him smile. I will never forget a moment of our trip. God bless you, Tom.”

The boyband released their self-titled debut album in 2010 and went on to enjoy several hits, including the UK chart-topping singles All Time Low and Glad You Came.

Then, in 2014, The Wanted announced that they were taking time apart so each member could pursue their personal endeavors.

Prior to their split, The Wanted had racked up worldwide success, including two UK number one singles and nine top 10 singles, as well as four Billboard 100 singles, selling over 900,000 records, three platinum albums and two sold out arena tours.

Following news of Tom’s devastating death, his bandmates released a heartbreaking statement as they described the father-of-two as their ‘brother’.

A tribute posted on the band’s official social media pages read: “Max, Jay, Siva, Nathan and the entire Wanted family are devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our bandmate Tom Parker, who passed away peacefully today. today at lunchtime surrounded by his family and his bandmates.

“Tom was an amazing husband to Kelsey and father to Aurelia and Bodhi. He was our brother, words cannot express the loss and sadness we feel.

“Always and forever in our hearts.”
